Students can choose to specialize in the mathematics stream, the computational and applied mathematics stream, and/or the enrichment stream. Recently the department also offers a new double degree programme on Mathematics/Information Engineering to enhance the interdisciplinary study. Staff members engage in a wide range of research, including numerical analysis, optimization theory, algebraic geometry, commutative algebra, geometric analysis, geometry, several complex variables, differential equations, non- linear waves, biological mathematics, functional analysis, harmonic analysis, fractals and wavelets. Department of Physics Tel.: 2609 6339 Fax.: 2603 5204 E-mail: physics@cuhk.edu.hk Website: http://www.phy.cuhk.edu.hk The undergraduate programme in physics leading to the BSc degree was introduced in 1963 with the founding of the University.
