No.19 June 1991 CUHK Newsletter Side Lights Th i r d Admi n i s t r a t i ve S t a f f Luncheon The third administrative staff luncheon was held on 21st May with Dr. Leung Yee, director of the Centre for Environmental Studies, and Dr. Lam Kin Che, member of the executive committee of the centre, as guest speakers. Dr. Leung talked about the origin, aims, and organization of the Centre for Environmental Studies while Dr. Lam briefly explained to the participants the environmental laws in Hong Kong and discussed how the University should react to such laws. Close to 30 administrators from various units attended the function. Exercise and Your Health The Physical Education Unit and the University Health Service jointly organized an outdoor event, ‘Exercise and Your Health', on 4th May at the University Sports Centre. Over 40 staff members and their families attended the function. Activities included a health talk and relevant demonstrations, and the testing of fitness levels such as cardiovascular efficiency and muscle tone. All were enthusiastically received by the participants. CUECU Annual General Meeting and Fifth Anniversary Dinner Party The Chinese University of Hong Kong Employees' Credit Union (CUECU) held its annual general meeting at the Shatin Treasure Restaurant on 17th May 1991 , which was followed by a dinner party, a Karaoke singing contest, and lucky draws. Over 200 members and guests attended the function. The meeting approved the various reports given by the CUECU president, treasurer, and various committees, and endorsed a resolution to pay a six percent dividend on all fully-paid shares. Exhibits will include some 120 pieces of Duan inkstones from the Tang to the Qing dynasties collected by the Guangdong Provincial Museum, and other pieces from public and private collections in Guangdong and Hong Kong.
