Successful candidates will be attached to Rikkyo University at Tokyo or other NSKK-affiliated institutions in Japan to do research or receive training in their chosen field. The period of research and/or training will be approxiamately one and a half years, commencing in October 1996. During the initial six months, participants in the programme will be expected to undertake training in the Japanese language. Tuition will be waived, and a stipend of ¥ 185,000 per month and single person's quarters will be provided. Transportation expenses to and from Japan for the visiting researcher/trainee will be reimbursed. The applicant should be: (a) under 35 years of age on 1st October 1996; (b) a graduate of a university or college be currently employed in the civil service or other commercial, agricultural or educational enterprises, or enrolled in a graduate school, or engaged in research or training at a recognized educational or research institution, or a graduate of a junior college or of a specialized technical or vocational school with a few years' actual working experience subsequent to his/her graduation; (c) an Anglican recommended by the Anglican bishop of his/her diocese, or a Christian of another denomination recommended by an Anglican bishop. The following courses have been tentatively scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday from 2.30 p.m. to 4.20 p.m. at the Fong Shu Chuen Building: (1) Beginner's course in Putonghua for foreigners; (2) Beginner's course in Cantonese for foreigners (3) Beginner's course in Putonghua for non-Putonghua speakers of Chinese origin; (4) Beginner's course in Cantonese for non-Cantonese speakers of Chinese origin. The size of each class will be limited to eight students and the minimum number of students to form a class is four. Enrolment will be on a first-come-first-served basis, Basic tuition fee for each course is HK$5,280. Th University will subsidize 40 per cent of the tuition fe for all full-time academic and administrative staff as wel a their spouses who are expected to be with the University for at least two years, and who are not receiving a language study subsidy from any other source.
