Their names w i ll be submitted to the University Council for formal appointment. Votes for the election of member trustees were opened in Room G01B of the Business Section at the John Fulton Centre on 27th May 1997. Mr. Aaron L i (CUSA representative) and Prof. C. K. Yeung ( CU TA representative) were present to observe and witness the counting of votes. Of the 3,204 ballot forms issued, 649 were returned, of which 637 carried valid votes, and 12 were declared void. Wo ng Lung 509 Prof. Leslie Young 226 Electronic Resources Centre Offers New Services Multimedia CD-ROMs and books with CD-ROMs can now be loaned for seven days or more to University staff and students at the Electronic Resources Centre (ERC) of the United College library. Computer hardware and software are also available to staff and students for self-installation of CD- ROMs. The ERC w i ll be open on all four Saturdays in July to children over 16 of faculty members. Faculty members, however, have to be present while their children are using the ERC's facilities. Information on the ERC's services and new titles is available on its homepage (http:// www.lib.cuhk.edu.hk/erc/ ). Recommendations or enquiries on multimedia electronic materials can be directed to Mrs. Florence Tam, branch librarian at United College library, at ext. 7566, or sent by e-mail to erchelp@cuhk.edu.hk. To ensure safety and smooth traffic, the Committee on Security has decided to make the section in question into a low- speed zone. More signage w i ll also be installed in locations affected by the one-way arrangement. 颱風襲港及暴雨的有關安排 General Arrangements for Typhoons and the Black Rainstorm Warnings 颱 風 季 節 和 雨 季 將 至 ， 新 聞 及 公 共 關 係 處 已 於 一 九 九 七 年 六 月 一 日 連 同 《 每 周 活 動 一 覽 》 派 發 由 行 政 事 務 處 編 纂 ， 關 於 颱 風 襲 港 及 黑 色 暴 雨 警 告 懸 掛 時 之 安 排 通 告 。 如未 收 到 該 份 通 告 ， 可 致 電 新 聞 及 公 共 關 係 處 （ 內 線 八 八 九 九 ） 索 取。 A circular on general arrangements during the approach of typhoons and the hoisting of black rainstorm warnings, issued by the Office of the Director of Administrative Services, was sent to various units as an attachment to the Weekly Events on 1st June 1997. Those who have not received the circular or who would like to obtain more copies please call the Information and Public Relations Office at ext. 8899. 心肺復甦急救課程 First Aid Course — Pulmonary Resuscitation 大 學 保 健 處 將 於 下 月 舉 辦 心 肺 復 甦 急 救 課 程 ， 課 程 重 點 在 提 供 心 肺 復 甦 法 之 理 論與 實 習 ， 共 分 五 節 ， 每 節 兩 小 時 ， 由 七 月 十 五 日 起 ， 逢 星 期 二 下 午 二 時 半 至 四 時 半 ， 在大 學 保 健 中 心 研 討 室 講 授 ， 費 用 全 免。 此 課 程 專 為 中 大 員 生 而 設 ， 名 額 二 十 名 。 學 員 完 成 課 程 後 ， 可 獲 發 出 席 證 書 。 報名 表 格 可 在 大 學 保 健 中 心 索 取 ， 截 止 報 名 日 期 為 七 月 七 日 ， 查 詢 請 電 護 士 長 蔡 太 （ 內 線六 四二三）。 The University Health Service w i l l offer a five-session first aid course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation for interested students and staff. The course intends to explain the basic theory and practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation as a life-saving measure in emergency, and w i ll run on five consecutive Tuesday afternoons (2.30-4.30 p.m.) from 15th July to 12th August 1997 at the Seminar R o om of the Health Centre. Certificates of attendance w i ll be issued on request upon completion of the course. No course fees w i ll be charged. Application forms are available at the Health Centre. Please enrol before 7th July 1997 and direct all enquiries to ext. 6423. 敎職員會所暫停營業 SCR Clubhouse to Close for Renovation 敎 職 員 會 所 將 於 七 月 廿 九 日 至 八 月 三 日 進 行 例 行 維 修 工 程 ， 暫 停 營 業 。 不 便 之 處， 敬 請 原 諒。 The clubhouse at the Staff Common Room w i ll be closed for annual renovation from 29th July to 3rd August 1997. 學生事務處辦公室裝修 Office of Student Affairs Renovation 范 克 廉 樓 二 樓 辦 公 室 由 六 月 二 十 日 起 裝 修 ， 為 期 七 週 。 學 生 事 務 處 之 獎 學 金 及 經濟 援 助 組 期 間 遷 往 范 克 廉 樓 三 樓 辦 公 ， 而 學 生 活 動 組/ 學 生 活 動 設 施 管 理 組 / 泳 池 辧 公 室 則 繼 續 留 在 二 樓 ， 敬 請 留 意。 The Office of Student Affairs on the first floor of the Benjamin Franklin Centre w i ll undergo renovations lasting seven weeks from 20th June 1997. During this period, the Scholarships/Student Finance/Student Campus Wo rk Scheme Section w i ll be temporarily relocated to the second floor of the building.
