The deadline for submission of nominations is 23rd January 1998 . Direct applications from individual staff members will not be considered. University staf f affiliated with Shaw College, students and alumni of the college, as well as members of the college staff association are eligible to submit entries before 31st December 1997. All entries will be displayed at the Lecture Theatre Gallery for 1 2 days from 12t h January 1998, and the result of the contest will be announced on 23rd January. Please direct enquiries to Ext. 7358. 教職員及配偶國粤 語課程 Putonghua and Cantonese Courses for Staff and Spouses 新雅中國語文硏習所由一九九八年一月十三日至四月十四日於方樹泉樓再度爲本校 敎職員及其配偶舉辦下列國、粤語課程，上課時間暫定星期二及四下午五時至六時五十 分。 (一）供外籍敎職員及其配偶選修之初級國語課程。 (二）供外籍敎職員及其配偶選修之初級粤語課程。 (三）供粤籍敎職員及其配偶選修之初級國語課程。 (四）供非粤籍敎職員及其配偶選修之初級粤語課程。 以上各課程每班限額八人，按報名先後取錄，少於四人不開班。學費全期港幣六千 元’聘任期不少於兩年之本校全職敎職員及其配偶’如未獲任何語言學習資助者’可獲 大學津貼學費百分之四十。 有意就學者，請於一九九八年一月六日前與該硏習所聯絡(內線六七二七）。 The New Asia—Yale-in-China Chinese Language Centre will again offer Putonghua and Cantonese courses to the University's staff and their spouses from 13th January to 14th April 1998. The following courses have been tentatively scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday from 5.00 p.m. to 6.50 p.m. at the Fong Shu Chuen Building: (1) Beginner' s course in Putonghua for foreigners; (2) Beginner' s course in Cantonese for foreigners; (3) Beginner' s course in Putonghua for non-Putonghua speakers of Chinese origin; (4) Beginner' s course in Cantonese for non-Cantonese speakers of Chinese origin. The size of each class will be limited to eight students and the minimum number o f students to form a class is four. Enrolment will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Basic tuition fee for each course is HK$6,000. The University will subsidize 40 per cent of the tuition fee for all full-time academic and administrative staff as well as their spouses who are expected to be with the University for at least two years, and who are not receiving a language study subsidy from any other source. Please direct enquiries to Ext. 6097. 内地人員往來香港特別行政區通行證 根據新華社香港分社發出的知會，自一九九七年七月一日起，內地人員因公往來香 港須持《往來香港特別行政區通行證》；已在港人員也須辦理該證，原持有之護照只可使 用至一九九七年十二月卅一日。自一九九八年一月一日起，內地人員因公往來內地與香 港都要使用通行證，而原持有之護照不收回，由持證人保存。通行證現已供申領，辦法 如下： 一、凡現持護照的有效簽證期超過一九九七年十二月卅一日的應盡快申辦通行證。 二、內地批准在港時間超過一九九七年十二月卅一日但現有簽證仍末延期到該日 的，應在簽證到期前兩個月辦理簽證延期，然後申辦通行證。 三、申請人須提供照片三張(小二寸、正面、免冠、素背景近照)和護照複印件(資料 頁和港簽頁），在新華社開具〈換發因公通行證通知》後，往外交部駐香港特派員 公署領事部辦理通行證。領事部位於香港港灣道廿六號華潤大廈西側。 四、領取通行證時須持護照正本和《換發因公通行證通知》複印件。 五、辦理兩年有效期通行證收費四十五元，五年有效期通行證收費五十元，另簽注 費一百元。 第一壹七期 一九九七年十二月四日 4 中大通訊
