He has also been reappointed by the Secretary for Planning, Environment and Lands to the appeal board panels under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance and the Noise Control Ordinance for three years from 1st February 1998. * Prof. Rance P.L Lee, head of Chung Chi College, has been re-appointed as a member of the Management Committee of the Police Children's Education Trust as well as the Police Education and Welfare Trust for three years from 1st December 1997. * Prof. Tunney Lee, professor of architecture, has been appointed by the Deputy Secretary for Planning, Environment and Lands to be a member ofthe Appeal Tribunal Panel under the Buildings Ordinance for three years from 1st December 1997. * Prof. Andrew Chan Chi-fai, professor in the Department of Marketing, has been reappointed by the Secretary for Trade and Industry as a member of the Consumer Council for two years from 1st January 1998. * Prof. Joyce L.C. Ma, associate professor in the Department of Social Work, has been appointed as a member of the Caritas Social Work Committee of Caritas - Hong Kong for the period up to 31st December 1999. * Prof. Robert Allinson, professor in the Department of Philosophy, was appointed a Visiting Fellow of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Yale University, from 1 st July to 31st August 1997. He has also been appointed a member of the editorial board of Business Ethics Quarterly of the Darden Graduate School of Business of the University of Virginia for four years from 30th October 1996. * Prof. Albert H.L. Chow, associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy, has been invited to serve as a member of the editorial advisory board of Pharmaceutical Research for three years from 1st January 1998. * Prof. Joseph Lau Wan-yee, professor of surgery, was admitted a Fellow qua Surgeon of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons ofGlasgow on 20th November 1997 , and Fellow qua Surgeon of The Royal College of Surgeons of England on 10th April 1997. He has also been elected Honorary Life- Member of the Hong Kong Society for Coloproctology from 10th January 1998. * Prof. Jack Cheng, professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, has been invited to serve as a member of the International Pediatric Orthopaedic Think Tank for three years from January 1998.
