Classes lasting eight weeks each w i ll begin once the enrolment has reached nine to 12 participants. There is a free evaluation for participants before class. Participants who have attended more than four-fifth of the total course hours w i ll receive a certificate at the end of the course. Different levels of courses are offered: an elementary class that includes the teaching o f p i n y i n, an i n t e r me d i a te c o n v e r s a t i on class, an intermediate conversation class with specific professional focus, an advanced conversation class, and an advanced conversation class w i th specific professional focus. The instructors are experienced and well qualified teachers w i th university degrees. Classes may take place twice a week from Monday to Friday from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., or on Saturday, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., or from 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., at the Chinese Language Centre or other teaching facilities at the University. Regular employees of the University with a contract of over two years are charged the special hourly rate o f $60, 40 per cent o f f the regular rate o f $100 per hour. Classes sponsored by University departments also enjoy a special rate.
