Sundays and public holidays; 2. A ll days in June, July, and August except course selection and registration days. Such coupons come in books of 10 and may be purchased from the Transport Unit, Security Unit, New Postgraduate Hall Complex Office, and Dean of Students' Offices of the four constituent colleges. The University also provides a non-fee-charging bus service during the months of June, July, and August (except on Sundays and public holidays) to facilitate staff members who travel to and from work by train. To tie in with University working hours, the bus will run as per the following schedule from 1st June to 31st August this summer: Up Route Monday to Saturday at 8.30 a.m. and 8.40 a.m. (two trips per day) Lingnan Stadium → CU Sports Centre → Y.C. Liang Hall → K.K. Leung Building → United College → New Asia College Down Route Monday to Friday at 5.05 p.m. and 5.20 p.m. (two trips per day) Saturday at 12.45 p.m. (one trip per day) New Asia College → United College → University Administration Building → CU Sports Centre → University Train Station Enquiries can be directed to the Transport Unit (Ext. 7990 or 7992). Seminar on 'Web-based Teaching: Introducing a New University-wide Platform' Staff of the University are cordially invited to a seminar 'Web-based Teaching: Introducing a New University-wide Platform' jointly organized by the Computer Services Centre/Information Technology Service Unit (CSC/ITSU), and the Teaching Development Unit (TDU). In this seminar, you will be introduced a new University- wide platform that will be implemented in September and to other information on the use of advanced instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning. The seminar will begin with a policy address by Prof. Kenneth Young, who will talk about the current use of technology in teaching on campus. Following his speech, Ms. Christina Keing and Mr. Augustine Lo of CSC/ITSU will demonstrate the use of and the support for web-based teaching on campus. A series of learning technology seminars and workshops will be conducted again in August to help you familiarize yourself with WebCT and other learning technology support currently available. In addition, several teachers w i ll share their experiences of teaching with information technology. You are invited to join the discussion. In addition to these workshops, Mr. George Jor of the English Language Teaching Unit, Prof. Ho Man-koon of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Mr. George Lam of United College, and Prof. Liu Chun-wah of the Department of Economics were invited to share their experience using IT in their teaching at interactive seminar sessions. These sessions can now be viewed at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/csc/learning. T he video clip can be watched with Real Player G2. In the session 'Computing Fundamentals for Teaching', Mr. George Jor shared with the audience how he launched a joint university English teaching course with the help of the Internet for students of CUHK and Shuzhou University. In the session 'Designing a Web-based Course', Prof. Ho Man-koon introduced the website he designed and developed to help his students learn IT tools for educational purposes, and Mr. George Lam demonstrated the delivery of an SMIL multi-media presentation over the web. In the sessions 'Multi-media Technologies', Prof. Liu Chun-wah spoke on WebCT, an online discussion forum.
