Those who have not received the circular or who would like to obtain more copies should call the Information and Public Relations Office at Ext. 8899. 大學游泳池通告 University Swimming Pool Notice 大學游泳池將於六月十一日(星期一)至九月二日(星期日)延長開放時間如下: 第一節:上午八時至下午一時四十分 第二節:下午二時三十分至晚上九時 (星期日及公眾假期照常開放) 另,游泳池第一至第三水線於六月六日至七月十三日(六月廿五日及七月二日除 外),逢一、三、五上午十一時半至下午一時半,借予體育運動科學系上游泳課。 From 11th June to 2nd September 2001, the opening hours of the swimming pool will be extended as follows: First session : 8.00 a.m. — 1.40 p.m. Second session : 2.30 p.m. — 9.00 p.m. The pool is open seven days a week including public holidays. The first, second and third lanes of the swimming pool w i ll be reserved for the swimming course organized by the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on the following days: Monday : 11/6, 18/6,9/7 Wednesday : 6/6, 13/6, 20/6, 27/6, 4/7, 11/7 Friday : 8/6, 15/6, 22/6, 29/6, 6/7, 13/7 范克廉樓膳堂消息 BFC Canteens 范克廉樓咖啡閣及大膳堂之承辦合約將於今年暑假屆滿,兩所膳堂已分別於 四、五月間招標。前者已決定由現行之承辦商繼續經營,後者未有定案。有關遴 選承辦商的詳細資料及最新消息已刊於以下網址: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/bus/ internal/canteen。 As the contracts of the present caterers of the BFC Coffee Comer and BFC Canteen will expire this summer, the services of the two canteens were open for tender in April and May. The coffee comer will continue to be run by the present caterer, while the new caterer of the canteen has not yet been confirmed. Service to the Community and International Organizations • Prof. Arthur K.C. Li, vice-chancellor, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR and the Financial Secretary respectively as a member of the Board of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation from 7th May 2001 to 30th June 2003. • Prof. Charles K. Kao, honorary professor of engineering, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR and the Financial Secretary respectively as amember of the Board of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation from 7th May 2001 to 30th June 2003. • Prof. Kwan Hoi-shan, professor in the Department of Biology, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene for two years from 1st April 2001. • Dr. Anthony Edward James, director of the Laboratory Animal Services Centre, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene for two years from 1st April 2001. • Prof. Jack C.Y. Cheng, professor of orthopaedics and traumatology, has been appointed as a member of the Criminal and Law Enforcement Injuries Compensation Boards for two years from 19th June 2001. • Dr. Steven Luk, director of The Chinese University Press, has been invited to serve as a member of the editorial board of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants. • Prof. Tracey Lu Lie Dan, assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology, has been appointed as an honorary researcher in the Archaeology Centre of South China, Zhongshan University, for two years from April 2001. • Prof. Ignatius Yu Tak-sun, associate professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine, has been appointed by the School of Public Health of the Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences as an academic adviser for the research project 'The effects of air pollution on the health of the population in Guangzhou and the strategies for prevention' from March 2001 to December 2003. Honours and Awards • Prof. Anthony Yim, professor in the Department of Surgery, was invited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to deliver the foundation lecture at their annual Scientific Congress in Canberra as foundation visitor to the College in May 2001.
