宣布事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 第一屆榮譽院士頒授典禮 First Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony 大學訂於二零零二年五月六日下午五時在利黃瑤璧樓利希慎音樂廳舉行第一屆 榮譽院士頒授典禮,由大學校董會主席利漢釗博士主禮,並頒授榮譽院士銜予六位 傑出人士,他們是李兆基博士、李福善博士、胡秀英教授、鄭海泉先生、劉尚儉先 生和 Prof. Kenneth Hobbs。 The first Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony of the University w i ll be held at the Lee Hysan Concert Hall of the Esther Lee Building on 6th May 2002. Dr. Lee Hon Chiu, chairman of the Council, will confer honorary fellowships on six distinguished persons: Mr. Vincent H.C. Cheng, Prof. Kenneth Hobbs, Prof. Hu Shiu-ying, Dr. Lee Shau-kee, Dr. Simon Li Fook-sean, and Mr. Richard Liu Shang- chien. 新任講座教授 Professorial Appointment 大學委任 Prof. David Kember 為學能提升學科講座教 授,任期由二零零二年三月二十五日起生效。 Prof. Kember 就學於英國東安利亞大學,分別於七二、 七四及七六年獲授理學士、理學碩士和哲學博士學位。 畢業後,他曾於英國一所中學、南太平洋及澳洲多所大 學任教,一九八七年起受聘於香港理工大學。加入中大服務 前,為理大教學發展中心副總監。 Prof. Kember 是兩種學術期刊的編委,以及十多種期刊 和牛津大學出版社的評審。 Prof. David R. Kember has been appointed professor of learning enhancement from 25th March 2002. Prof. Kember obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from the University of East Anglia in the 1970s and a graduate diploma in distance education from South Australian CAE in 1986. Prof. Kember was senior education officer at the Department of External and Continuing Education, Central Queensland University, from 1985 to 1987, and held various titles at the Educational Development Unit, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, from 1987 to 1994. He taught short courses, ran workshops, supported educational action research projects, advised on the evaluation of teaching and quality assurance procedures, and participated in collaborative research projects. In the following five years, he was coordinator of the Action Learning Project, an inter-institutional project funded by the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong. Prior to joining the University, Prof. Kember was associate director of the Educational Development Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His role within the centre included running a collaborative project to transform professional education to cater for the demands of lifelong learning. 圖書館閉館 ULS Announcement 大學圖書館暨各分館於五月一日(勞動節)及五月二十日(佛誕)停止開放。 The University Library and all branch libraries will be closed on 1st May 2002 (Labour Day) and 20th May 2002 (the Buddha's Birthday). 逸夫書院招聘學生宿舍導師 Recruitment of Resident Tutors 逸夫書院現招聘二零零二至二零零三年度學生宿舍男女導師,歡迎大學全職教 職員申請。申請人須持大學學位。 導師的職責是協助舍監處理宿舍事務及促進宿舍生活。此職為兼任,獲委任者 必須於宿舍居住,住宿免費,惟並無任何津貼。 有意者請函寄逸夫書院學生輔導處左冠輝先生,截止日期為二零零二年五月十 一日。查詢請電內線七三五八。 Shaw College is looking for outgoing people to serve as resident tutors in its student hostels for the academic year 2002-3. The appointees must be full-time employees of CUHK and degree-holders. The major duty of a resident tutor, who has to live in the hostel, is to assist the hostel wardens to manage the hostel and promote hostel life. This is a concurrent appointment. World Trade Centre Club Membership Open for Bidding The University holds one membership of the World Trade Centre Club (WTCC). An employee nominated by the University to take up the membership is eligible to use the club's facilities, including the function rooms, the sports facilities located at the Excelsior Hotel, and the reciprocal arrangements that the club has made with the Grand Royal Club, Shatin Race Course Private Box, and a number of golf clubs. Full-time Terms (A) or equivalent staff members are invited to bid for the privilege of being the University's nominee from 1st July 2002. The minimum bid, i.e. the monthly charge payable to the University, is HK$150. In case of identical bids, preference w i ll be given to staff with longer service. Membership, subject to the nominee remaining a full-time Terms (A) or equivalent employee of the University, has a minimum term of two years and can be extended for another year at the member's request and with the University's agreement. The new member pays a transfer fee of HK$3,000 charged by WTCC as well as a monthly membership fee of HK$880 (inclusive of spouse and children between 16 and 21 years of age). The transfer fee is refundable if the staff keeps his/her membership for over two years. No pro-rata refund will be made. Eligible and interested staff members should submit their bids to the Tender Board, c/o Business Office, G/F, John Fulton Centre, in envelopes marked 'Application for World Trade Centre Club Membership' before 2.30 p.m. on 7th May 2002.
