宣 布 事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 新任逸夫書院院長 New Head of Shaw College 大學校董會依據大學規程 9 第 1 段及第 3 段規定，並經根據大學規程 9 第 1 段及規程 16 第 6(b) 段所組成的委員會推薦，委任電子工程學講座教授程伯中 教授繼楊汝萬教授出任逸夫書院院長，任期四年，由二零零四年二月十一日起 生效。 In accordanc e wit h Statut e 9. 1 and 9.3 o f the University Ordinance , Prof . P.C . Ching, professor of electronic engineering , has been appointed by the University Council a s Head of Shaw College for a period of four year s from 11t h February 2004, succeeding Prof. Yeung Yue-man. 新任講座教授 Professorial Appointment 大學委任顏慶義教授為電子工程學講座教授，任期 由二零零三年十二月十五日起生效。 顏教授先後於一九七八及八二年取得英國拉夫伯勒 科技大學理學士及哲學博士學位，其後任教於新加坡國 立大學、澳洲蒙納殊大學和西澳洲大學，加入中大服務 前，為新加坡南洋科技大學電腦工程學院講座教授。 顏教授是多個專業學院的院士，十多種學術期刊的 編委或審稿員。他的研究興趣包括錄像編碼及通訊、數 碼影像處理、數碼訊號處理、電腦通訊和電訊網絡，與合作夥伴共同持有四項 專利權。 Prof. Kin g N . Ngan was appointed professor o f electroni c engineerin g on 15t h December 2003 . Prof. Ngan obtained his B.Sc. and his Ph.D. from Loughborough Universit y of Technolog y i n th e UK . H e has taught a t National Universit y o f Singapore , Monash Universit y i n Australia, the University o f Western Australia, an d most recently, Nanyan g Technological Universit y o f Singapor e wher e he was chai r professor o f th e Schoo l o f Compute r Engineerin g an d assistan t directo r o f research. He was visiting professo r t o The Chinese University i n 1998 . Prof. Ngan' s researc h interests includ e vide o coding and communications , digital imag e processing, digita l signa l processing, compute r communications , and telecommunication networks .
