宣 布 事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 三位法律權威出任法律學院榮譽教授 A p p o i n t me nt of Th r ee Ho n o r a ry Professors t o t he School of Law 三位普通法權威應邀擔任本校法律學院的榮譽教授，他們的豐富經驗和智慧，將 有助本港法律教育的發展。 三位榮譽教授分別為前英格蘭及威爾斯首席大法官暨香港特別行政區終審法院非 常任法官伍爾夫勳爵、前香港首席大法官暨香港中文大學法律學院執行委員會主席楊 鐵樑爵士，以及促進公共行政法權威暨前劍橋大學校長 D a v i d Williams 爵士。 他們在其所屬司法區的法律發展和改革有傑出貢獻，在體現現代社會的法治精神 以至公眾如何理解憲法在公民社會中的角色，均有重要影響。 The Universit y ha s appointe d three to p expert s i n the commo n la w worl d a s honorar y professors o f the CUH K Schoo l o f Law . Each o f thes e distinguishe d lega l expert s ha s bee n involve d i n som e o f th e mos t transformative an d important lega l reforms o f thei r respectiv e jurisdictions. Eac h ha s made major contribution s t o the rule o f law i n a modem context and has played a part i n influencing th e framewor k an d public perceptio n o f th e rol e o f a constitution i n civi l society. The appointments represent an important step in establishing the School of Law' s role i n bringing historical , comparativ e an d practical skill s a t the highest leve l to Hon g Kong lega l education . 伍爾夫勳爵 Lord Woolf of Barnes 伍爾夫勳爵是當今最備受尊崇的法學家之一。他於二零零 零至二零零五年十月，擔任英格蘭及威爾斯首席大法官；一九 九六至二零零零年出任英格蘭及威爾斯上訴法院院長。他對司 法行政貢獻良多，包括就監獄動亂事件進行研訊，而其中最重 要的貢獻為推動英格蘭及威爾斯的民事司法制度徹底改革，並 為民事訴訟現代化帶來革命性影響，例如將個人傷害案件交由 律師和法庭處理。 As forme r Lor d Chief Justice of England and Wales from 2000 to Octobe r 2005 an d former Maste r o f the Rolls betwee n 199 6 an d 2000, Lord Woolf of Barnes i s one of the most respecte d and foremost lawyer s i n the world today . O f hi s man y contribution s t o the administration of justice, Lord Woolf was responsible for a major inquiry int o prison s following disturbance s amon g inmate s and , most importantly , th e reform o f the whol e of th e c i v i l justic e syste m i n Englan d an d Wales . H e i s th e perso n responsibl e fo r modernizing an d revolutionizing how civil actions involving, for example, personal injur y are handled by lawyer s an d the courts . 楊鐵樑爵士 Dr. the Honorable Sir T.L. Yang 楊鐵樑爵士是本港最備受尊崇的法學家之一。他於一九八八 至九六年擔任香港首席大法官期間，對建構香港回歸後的法律環 境和基本法與中國憲法的關係，舉足輕重。楊鐵樑爵士早於一九 八五年已為香港和內地的法律制度，建立重要的學術和司法連 繫。他特別強調權力平衡和司法獨立，作為回歸後香港法治的支 柱。楊爵士最偉大貢獻之一，是參與改革香港的普通法制度，使 之更切合回歸後的實際情況。他徹底改變了沿用一百五十二年的 法律傳統，於一九九五年將中文引入香港的法院。另外，他亦在法官的聘任和司法制 度的行政管理等領域，促進了香港法律制度的現代化。 Dr. th e Honorabl e Si r T.L . Yan g wa s Chie f Justic e o f Hon g Kon g fro m 198 8 t o 1996. He is one of the most respected lawyers i n Hong Kong. As Chie f Justice he played a pivota l rol e i n th e creatio n o f Hon g Kong' s post-199 7 lega l landscap e an d th e relationship betwee n th e Basi c La w an d th e PR C Constitution . A s earl y a s 198 5 h e initiated importan t academi c an d judicial link s betwee n the legal systems o f Hong Kon g and China, with a particular focu s on the importance o f separation of powers an d judicial independence a s the foundation for the rule of law afte r the handover. Si r T.L. Yang als o changed th e cours e o f 15 2 year s o f lega l traditio n b y introducin g th e us e o f Chines e language int o th e court s o f Hon g Kon g i n 1995 . David Wi l l i ams 爵士 Sir David Williams David Wi l l i ams 爵士是公共行政法律領域的先驅學者，也是香港中文大學法律學教 育諮詢委員會主席。他於一九八九至九六年出任劍橋大學校長，現為劍橋大學的英國 法榮休講座教授。他是世界頂尖的憲法和行政法學者之一，亦是榮譽御用大律師，並 為多國政府擔任顧問。 Sir Davi d Williams i s a n outstanding publi c la w professo r in the common law world.
