Sir C.K. Chow Speaks at 21st Founder's Day Celebration Ceremony of Shaw College

21st Founder's Day Celebration Ceremony of Shaw College was held on 12 January 2007 at Shaw College Lecture Theatre. Sir C.K. Chow, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation and college trustee was the guest of honour. At his speech, Sir C.K. Chow points out that 21 is the age to become an adult and it is time to learn about its meaning, be ready to take up responsibility, and seek achievement.

Sir C.K. is of the view that as a Chinese, one must be knowledgeable about Chinese philosophy and cultural values, which is the truth of education. Hong Kong is an international city and as Hong Kong people, English is an essential skill for commercial, scientific and cultural exchanges. Possession of both education and language skill makes Hong Kong stay competitive and should be the aim of Hong Kong people.

Sir C.K. advised students to dare to innovate and to be a winner ─ someone pessimistic, positive, energetic, adaptable, creative, caring, sociable and liked by others. He hopes that students can cultivate these qualities and be winners for life.

On the same occasion, a number of college academic and service awards were presented.
