Shaw College Turns 35
The Shaw College held its 35th Founder’s Day Celebration Ceremony on 15 January with Dr. Dexter Leung Yu-lung as the guest of honour. The ceremony was held online this year due to the pandemic. Dr. Leung, an alumnus of the College, shared his life stories and moments of honour of winning major international research prizes in the field of glaucoma. He strives to bring light to his patients through active involvement in voluntary work to prevent and treat glaucoma. Dr. Leung emphasized that we should always hold on to hope even when life seems hopeless. ‘If you focus on problems, you will have more problems. If you focus on possibilities, you will have more opportunities.’
At the ceremony, academic scholarships were presented to students, and certificates of long service and recognition to outstanding teaching performances to teachers and staff members. Star of Shaw Awards 2020 were presented to Mr. Kuo Wai-keung (Information Engineering/2015) and Dr. Sin Ngai-chuen (Medicine/1994). Mr. Kuo is the co-founder of R-Guardian Limited while Dr. Sin is currently Hospital Chief Executive of Bradbury Hospice, Cheshire Home, Shatin and Shatin Hospital.
