Seminar on Positive Behaviour Support

Co-organised by CUHK’s Department of Social Work and the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, the Seminar on Positive Behaviour Support was successfully held on 5 March online. More than 550 participants from the disability and special education fields participated in the seminar, including participants from mainland China and Macau.

In her keynote speech, Prof. Phyllis Wong from the Department of Social Work shared and presented her experience in practising positive behaviour support and the results of her evidence-based practice research. With a view to encouraging positive responses to the needs and emotions that motivate challenging behaviour, the seminar was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge of the concept of positive behaviour support and the intervention methods it involves. Also joining the seminar were several service providers and users with intellectual disability, who shared their experience in using this new approach and shed light on how it benefited them.
