CUHK Virtual Summer Programmes 2021 Now Open for Applications

Since 2004, the CUHK International Summer School (ISS) has brought CUHK undergraduate students, international students and Hong Kong residents studying at local and overseas universities together during the summer holidays, offering them a fun, exciting and rewarding academic and cultural experience. Although the programme was suspended last year due to the pandemic, the ISS is back on track this year ever so lively.

The ISS will be held virtually from 28 June to 27 August with two sessions: in the July session, courses in business & finance/ understanding China/ Chinese languages (Putonghua and Cantonese)/ environment, science and technology/ society and human interaction streams will be available, while the August session will offer intensive training in Putonghua to non-local students. All courses will be taught by outstanding academics from CUHK and renowned overseas universities, who are recipients of numerous teaching awards and pioneers in their respective research areas. Depending on the total course load in the academic year, full-time undergraduate CUHK students can enrol in up to six credits without paying additional tuition.

In addition, the Summer Institute (SI), a two-week credit-bearing programme taking place from 19 to 29 July, will provide an opportunity for local and international secondary school students, who are applying to universities in the year 2022, to explore different subject areas through two short online courses in subject areas including Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science and Social Science. All courses will be taught by renowned CUHK faculty members. Upon successful completion of the courses and fulfilling the requirements as specified by the courses, students will earn a maximum of two credits which will count towards their undergraduate studies at CUHK in the future (with the exception of some programmes). Students will also gain insights into adapting to the university learning environment by taking part in enrichment activities offered online. Students with excellent academic standing may apply for a Merit Award (in the form of fee reduction).

The Office of Academic Links is now accepting online applications for the ISS and the SI.
