Professor Charles K. Kao Student Creativity Awards 2021 Prize Presentation Ceremony
‘Professor Charles K. Kao Student Creativity Awards 2021’ (PCKKSCA) Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 28 May 2021 at Cho Yiu Conference Hall. It was officiated by Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor, who presented the awards and gave the opening speech of the ceremony. Other guests of honour were Prof. Sham Mai-har, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Martin Wong, Dean of Engineering, and Prof. Song Chunshan, Dean of Science.
Organized by the Centre for Innovation and Technology, PCKKSCA is a campus-wide competition of technological innovation with 10 years of history. It aims to foster three-pronged-creation among students: Innovativeness, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, and motivate students to promote the innovations of CUHK to local, national, and international levels. In the past year, the progress of academic research faced challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this year’s competition still received a record-breaking number of entries, in which their quality maintains a high level as before. All these demonstrated the persevering and conscientious attributes of CUHK students.
Professor Tuan said in his opening remarks that PCKKSCA has provided a great platform to all undergraduate and postgraduate students in CUHK, promoting the knowledge transfer of academic researches to innovative applications. He also looks forward to seeing students’ innovations be rolled out in the market and serve society. Besides, Prof. Leung Kwong-sak, Chairman of PCKKSCA 2021 Judging Panel, commented on students’ performance, ‘Compared with the past, more cross-disciplinary projects were received. Meanwhile, some projects are closely related to recent trends, such as COVID-19, 5G, and Smart City.’
