Shining in the Intercultural Arena

Co-hosted by the Office of Student Affairs and various student associations, the iBond Talent Show competition (iBond’s Got Talent!) was held on 5 November to promote internationalization on campus and strengthen the bonding between students.

Fourteen groups of students from different regions showcased their talents and competed for the championship in the final. The violin performance by Silk Road Duo, a team formed by students from Mainland China and Kazakhstan, was a perfect demonstration of cultural integration. The traditional dance and singing performance by Mariia from Russia and guitar performance by Donghyun from Korea added spices to the show. The highlight was the performance by the special guests Prof. Rocky Tuan, the Vice Chancellor and Prof. Anthony Chan, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor. Professor Tuan shared two beautiful pieces Can’t Help Falling in Love and No More, following Professor Chan’s piano solo Brahms-Intermezzo Op.118, which livened up the show.

The show was well received, attracting more than 80 participants and successfully bringing students from different cultural backgrounds together. All participants had enjoyed a relaxing evening and gained memorable experience.
