Over 130 international alumni from the Chinese language programmes of the Yale-China Chinese Language Centre (CLC) returned to CUHK to celebrate the 50th anniversary of CLC on 15 November. The 50th anniversary dinner was officiated by Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, CUHK Vice-chancellor; and Dr. Wu Weiping, director of CLC. The event drew roaring applause when Mrs. Jennie Mak Ling, the 80-year-old founding director, together with Rev. Raymond Whitehead, the first student of CLC admitted in the early 1960s, shared their old stories. The joyous and memorable occasion was closed by a finale—Auld Lang Syne, presented in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
