The Department of Social Work held the CUHK Golden Jubilee Social Work Banquet cum Distinguished Alumni Awards Presentation Ceremony on 29 November 2013 at YMCA Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui. With the presence of Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, CUHK Vice Chancellor; Prof. Paul Lee, Dean of Social Science; and The Hon. Mr. Justice Patrick Chan, chairperson of the Departmental Advisory Committee, nearly 200 participants, most of whom were social work graduates, came together to celebrate the University's 50th anniversary and reunite with old acquaintances. Other attendees included Prof. Ho Kam-fai, one of the founders of the department; The Hon. Mr. Cheung Kwok-che, Legislative Council member; and leaders of social welfare agencies. On the same occasion, the department presented Distinguished Alumni Awards to 50 social work alumni who have had outstanding achievements in the field of social work and social welfare.
