1942, iM r. M cCabe volunteered fo r service in the U .S . Navy. He undertook in itia l m ilita ry tra in in g at the U .S . Naval Service M id s h ipm e n 's School, C o lum bia U n iv e rs ity , and received his comm ission as Ensign in June 1943. H e served as comm issioned officer u n til December 1963 when he retired from m ilita ry service w ith the rank o f Commander. M r. M cCabe's tw en ty-ye ar naval career included varied assignments in the Far East and in Naval Head quarters offices at W ashington, D .C . D u rin g 1945- 1946 he studied Japanese at the U .S . N a vy School o f O rien ta l Languages at Colorado U n iv e rs ity . Im m ediately p rio r to his appointm ent as C om p tro lle r at N ew Asia College, M r. M cCabe pursued fu rth e r graduate studies at George W ashington U n iv e rs ity and T h e Am erican U n iv e rs ity in W ashington D .C . He is a candidate fo r the M .A . degree in Far East Area Studies at T h e Am erican U n iv e rsity . M r. M cCabe arrived in H o ng K o n g to assume his present duties on J u ly 2, 1964. He is m arried and lives w ith his w ife, Rosenda, a registered nurse, in Yau Yat Chuen, K ow lo on. M r . N g K un K w a i , United College. M r. N g was bo rn in H o n g K o n g in 1902 and graduat ed from Queen's College in 1923. U p o n graduation, he jo in e d the H o ng K o n g G overnm ent as an A u d it C lerk in the A u d it Depa rtm ent. A fte r the war, he was placed in charge o f the general office-management o f the A u d it D e pa rtm e n t in ad d itio n to his norm al au d itin g duties. D u rin g his career, he had taken p a rt fo r many years in the tra in in g o f local recruits. H e held the post o f Senior E xam iner and A c tin g A u d ito r when he retired from the G overnm ent service in 1960. M r . N g assumed d u ty as Bursar o f U n ite d College in A p ril, 1960 when the College firs t became a G ove rn m ent-aided in s titu tio n . COLLEGE LIBRAR IANS M r . W . K . Lee (Acting), Chung C h i College. Born in China and educated in H o ng K ong, M r. W .K . Lee's study in the F a cu lty o f M ed icin e o f the U n iv e rs ity o f H o ng K o n g was in te rru p te d by the war, when he went back to the in te rio r o f China. A fte r the war, he jo in e d the H o ng K o n g Governm ent in the R ating & V aluation D e pa rtm ent fo r a year. M r. Lee began his career in lib ra rian sh ip at the L ib ra ry o f U n iv e rs ity o f H ong K on g . He was ap po in t ed as a cataloguer in 1953, and was in charge o f the Fung Ping Shan L ib ra ry fo r the years 1955-56. He le ft the U n iv e rs ity L ib ra ry fo r England and studied lib ra ria n sh ip in the B rig h ton T echn ica l College in 1959. D u rin g his stay in England, he made seve ral visits to the Royal In s titu te o f Inte rn a tion a l A ffa irs, the N o ttin g h am C oun ty L ib ra rie s, the E d in bu rgh P ub lic L ib ra rie s, and the U n iv e rs ity L ib ra ry o f G lasgow. He was elected to the Register o f the L ib ra ry Association, Lo nd on , and became a Chartered L ib ra ria n in 1963. M r. Lee has been a member o f the C omm ittee o f the H o ng K o n g L ib ra ry Association since 1961, and was also the H o no ra ry T reasu rer fo r 1962-3 and 1963-4. H is published works, apart from those published in Chinese newspapers, in c lu d e : "R and om thoughts on the w o rk o f the College L ib r a ry " . 4
