Mr. Joe Poon, Director of Physical Education, United College, M r . Joe Poon, nativ e of Kw a n g t u n g, China, was b o rn in Be r l i n, Ge r ma n y. He graduated f r om A r m s t r o ng College, California, U . S . A. in 1955 w i t h a B . A. degree in Business Adm i n i s t r a t i o n. Being very interested i n sports, M r . Poon studie d Physical Ed u c a t i on at Springfield College, Mass. U . S . A. and graduate d in 1965 w i t h an M . S c . degree. M r . Poon, a memb er of the H o n g K o n g Y . M . C . A . and South Ch i na A t h l e t ic Association, participates most enthusiastically i n the activities of ma ny private clubs and government organizations in the hope of p r omo t i ng physical education and sports in H o n g K o n g. Mr. Poon is an excellent basket-ball player and represented H o n g K o n g in matches held in ma ny Asian countries. He represented Nationalist Ch i na in the T h i r d Asian Games held in the Philippines, the Secon d W o r l d Basket-ball T o u r n ame nt held in Brazil, and visited Canada, America, Panama, Peru and other South Ame r i c a n countries for g o o d - w i ll matches. Cheng, b o rn i n Chungshan, K w a n g t u n g, was a graduate of Na t i o n al H i g h er N o r m al School of Kw o n g t u n g . He had been Professor in the Cu l t u r a l Un i v e r s i ty of Ca n t on and the Na t i o n al H u n an University. As a man of letters well versed in Chines e classics, M r . Cheng excels in poetry and T s ' u . H e j o i n ed " N a n S h e "(a n association of poets f r o m the South) in his y o u t h. T h e poems w r i t t en d u r i ng his travels in the southern and n o r t h e rn parts of the Yangtze Valley have been widely circulated. A f t er c om i ng t o Ho n g k o n g, he taught i n various post-secondary colleges for fifteen years. Dr. Feng Shih-yu, Chung Chi College, Physics He was b o rn and educated in Shanghai. A f t er graduating f r om the Provincial Shanghai M i d d le School, he studied at the Na t i o n al Chiao T u n g University. L a t er he we nt to T a i w an to attend the T a i w an Provincial College of Engineering b ut finished his college education at th e Na t i o n al T a i w an Un i v e r s i t y. I n 1956 he we nt to Ha r v a rd Un i v e r s i ty in th e U n i t ed States for graduate study. He wo r k ed on the subjec t of magnetic relaxation u n d er Professor N . Bloembergen and was conferred the P h . D. degree in 1962. H e j o i n ed D u Pont's Central Research De p a r t me nt i n W i l m i n g t o n immediately after graduation and d id his research on nuclear magnetic resonance phemomena in ferromagnets. I n 1964 he was granted a visiting associate-professorship by T a i wa n 's Science De v e l o pme nt Comm i t t ee and we nt back to T a i w an to teach at the Na t i o n al Chiao T u n g Un i v e r s i ty in H s in Ch u. I n Sept. 1965 he came to C h u ng Chi. Mr. William C.C. Kung, United College, Business Administration, M r . K u n g , b o rn in Canton, graduated f r om Shanghai College of Commerce, Na t i o n al Central Un i v e r s i ty i n 1928 w i t h a B.C.S. degree. He taught at the School of Commerce, K u o - m i n Un i v e r s i t y, Canton, as a lecturer in 1928-29 . He we nt to the U n i t ed State s for advanced study in the Graduate School of Busines s A dm i n i s t r a t i o n, Un i v e r s i ty of Wa s h i n g t o n, Seattle, Wa s h i n g t on and obtained a n M . B . A . degree i n 1933. A f t er his r e t u rn f r om the States, M r . K u n g taught at the Na t i o n al Canton College of L a w (later, Schoo l of L a w , Na t i o n al C h u ng Shan Un i v e r s i t y ). Ha v i ng been a dm i t t ed as a Chartered Public Ac c o u n t a nt by the M i n i s t ry of I n d u s t r y, he practised and j o i n ed the C . P . A. Associations in Canton and Shanghai. I n 1935, M r . K u n g j o i n ed the Central Bank of China, He ad Office, and served the i n s t i t u t i on fo r nearly 15 years in the capacity of Asst. Chie f and Chief of various Divisions, and later Su b - Ma n a g e r. H e came to H o n g K o n g in 1949. He was a lecturer at P i ng J i ng College (1951-56) and joined the U n i t ed College in 1956.
