D u r i n g his stay in the States, he attended the Ame r i c an Language L a b o r a t o ry Conference at I n d i a na Un i v e r s i ty in 1962, and visited the English Language Institute at the Un i v e r s i ty of M i c h i g an in the s ummer session. M r . Chao j o i n ed the teaching staff of U n i t ed College in 1963. Mr. Ho Chun Yuen, New Asia College, Economics. M r . H o was b o rn in H o n g K o n g. A f t er c omp l e t i ng his secondary education in St. Joseph's College, he entered the Un i v e r s i ty of H o n g K o n g in 1956 to study economics and statistics. He obtained his B . A. degree in 1959, w i t h first class honours, and then wo r k ed as a T u t o r i n the same Un i v e r s i ty for one year. I n 1960 he was awarded the C ommo n w e a l th Scholarship for study in the U n i t ed K i n g d o m. W i t h this scholarship, he studied for t wo years in the L o n d on School of Economics and Political Science, Un i v e r s i ty of L o n d o n, specializing in the field of economic g r ow t h, w i t h special reference to underdeveloped countries. I n 1962, he obtained his M . S c. (Econ.) degree. He then returned to H o n g K o n g and wo r k ed for one year as Assistant T r a de Officer in the Comme r ce and I n d u s t ry De p a r t me n t. He j o i n ed N ew Asia College in 1963 as Assistant L e c t u r e r. A p a rt f r om his teaching duties, M r , H o is secretary to the Economic Research Centre. H i s published works include the f o l l ow i n g: “Method and Practice of Construction of Retail Price Index in Hong Kong”, Journal of the Economics Society, University of H o n g K o n g, 1958-1959; “Capital Formation Statistics of Mainland China”, Co n t emp o r a ry China, 1959-1960 ; " Report on Hong Kong Cross-Harbour Goods Transportation,'' w i th E . L i left for Bangkok on Friday, December 17, to attend the 14th Me e t i ng of the Adm i n i s t r a t i ve Board of the Association of South-East Asian I n s t i t u t i o ns of H i g h er Learning. T h e participants were given an audience by H is Majesty the K i n g of T h a i l a n d. D r. and M r s . L i returned on Tuesday, December 21, by T h a i International Airways. • M r s. Ma u r i ce T . Mo o r e, President of the U n i t ed Board for Christian H i g h er Education in Asia, visited C h u n g C h i College on 27th No v emb e r, 1965, Wh i le in discussion w i t h President C . T . Y u n g and Vice- President R . N . Rayne, she showed keen interest in the College's new library project. M r s . Mo o re also serves on the Boards of T h e Asia F o u n d a t i on and T h e China Institute. She is Ch a i rman of the Executive Comm i t t ee of the I n s t i t u te of I n t e r- nation Education ( F u l b r i g ht awards). She is a daughter of the late Rev. D r . H e n ry W i n t e rs L u c e, noted China Educator who helped to b u i ld t wo great Chinese universities: Cheeloo and Yenching. O n 30th No v emb e r, M r s . Mo o re visited N ew Asia College.
