The theme fo r Open Day '99 wa s ' I d e a l E d u c a t i o n a n d Educational Ideals'. Activities of the day gave the publi c a b e t t e r u n d e r s t a n d i n g o f u n i v e r s i ty l i fe o n the C U c amp u s, a l l o w i n g t h em t o experience the atmosphere of academic f r e e d om and the self-confidence of Chinese University students. O r i e n t a t i o n D a y f o r S i x t h F o r m e r s The University holds an Orientation Day for Sixth Formers every year. In. 2001 the event attracted over 20,000 s i x th formers and their parents. On that day, all departments and colleges were open to introduce their programmes, admission requirements, activities, and facilities to the visitors in the form of exhibitions and talks.
