Ying Hung obtained her BA from the CUHK Department of Fine Arts in 1980 and her MFA from the Pratt Institute in New York in 1987. She won an award in painting at the Three Rivers Arts Festival and the Painters and Sculptors Grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation in 1986 and 1995, respectively.
