Hs u e h Shou-sheng, our newly appointed Reader in Public A dm i n i s t r a t i on who w i l l be attached to U n i t e d College, was b o rn in Shanghai in 1926 . He obtained his B . A. degree in 1949 f r om Y e n c h i ng University, and his M . A . and P h . D. degrees f r om th e Un i v e r s i ty of Geneva in 1951 and 1953 respectively. D r . H s u eh is expected to arrive in H o n g K o n g in s umme r. D r . H s u eh is n ow a visiting Professorial L e c t u r er at the Graduate School of Public Adm i n i s t r a t i o n, Un i v e r s i ty o f the Philippines, and Assistant Secretary- Congress of I n t e r n a t i o n al Political Science held in General o f the Eastern Regional Organisation for Pu b l ic A dm i n i s t r a t i o n ( E ROP A ). But D r . Hs u eh is no stranger to H o n g K o n g. He was Senio r Research Officer of the H o n g K o n g Office of th e Commissioner- General's Office for Southeast Asia in 1955 and L e c t u r er in Political Science at the Un i v e r s i ty of H o n g K o n g f r om 1960 to 1963. He also delivered courses at the De p a r t me nt of E x t r a - M u r al at the same Un i v e r s i ty for three years. I n recent years he had conducte d ma ny seminars i n such institutes and universities as the Universities of Ox f o r d, L o n d o n, Wa s h i n g t o n, Carlton, Centre d’ Etudes de Politique Etrangere, Paris and I n s t i t i it de Hautes Etudes Internationales, Geneva. He had also been invite d to participate in a great n umb er o f international academic conferences, such as the Wo r l d Ge r ma ny i n 1959 and in Paris in 1961, the Conference on So u th and Southeast Asia since Independence held i n O x f o rd i n 1961, the I n t e r n a t i o n al Seminar on Me t r o p o l i t an Planning in Asia held in T o k y o in 1964, and the Asian Conference on T e c h n i c al Assistanc e Bangkok in 1965. D r . H s u eh is a memb er of the Royal I n s t i t u te of Public A dm i n i s t r a t i on of the U n i t ed K i n g d o m, the International Political Science Association, the International L a w Association, the Ame r i c an Studies Association, and the Ph i T a u Phi Scholastic Ho n o u rs Society of China. D r .
