The Business School announced that the Department of Finance, led by Prof. Joseph Cheng, received outstanding results in two widely cited global rankings.

The department was ranked no.18 globally in the Arizona State University (ASU) World Finance Department Research Ranking, and tied with three other prestigious universities, including Stanford University, University of Michigan—Ann Arbor, and Cornell University. This ranking is based on the number of articles published in the three leading finance journals in 2011: Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics and Review of Financial Studies.

The department was also ranked no. 22 in the University of Texas (UT) Dallas World Business School Research Ranking based on contributions in the top three finance journals in 2011 till now.

In both rankings, the department scored first place in Asia.
