With a generous donation from Dr. and Mrs. Lee Shiu in 2001, the Lee Shiu Centre of Intercultural Learning was established by Chung Chi College to train and nurture young future leaders.
The college organized the 2006 Summer Programme of Lee Shiu Centre of Intercultural Learning from 13th July to 12th August, first in Hong Kong, then in Singapore and Beijing. The University Scholars Programme, National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University are the co-organizers of the programme. 79 student delegates from Chung Chi College and other prestigious universities such as Princeton University, National University of Singapore, and Tsinghua University.
The theme of the event was 'China Tomorrow: Perspectives from Three Cities—Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing'. Students were divided into small groups to research around the theme from four major perspectives, namely, government and law, economic development, education and culture, and social services. A series of seminars, organization visits, workshops, field trips and high table dinners were also organized during the 31-day programme
