United College Students' Study Tour at University of Queensland

In June 2005, 20 United College students participated in a three-week programme at the University of Queensland, Australia, on the topic of 'Confronting Globalization: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong'.

Participants attended lectures, seminars, interviews and excursions focusing on globalization issues. They also stayed with local host families in order to experience first-hand the social and cultural lives of the Australian people.

The study programme was conducted by Dr. David Ip, associate professor, School of Social Science, the University of Queensland. Dr. Ip was a 1969 sociology graduate of United College. The college students also visited the CUHK alumni association in Queensland.
