Music Graduates—First Prize in Chamber Music Composition Contest and First Chinese to Play Miss Saigon


The Broadway musical Miss Saigon has selected Miss Hui Pui-shan as its first Chinese leading actress. The 26-year-old Miss Hui graduated from the Music Department of The Chinese University, before going to New York University for her Master degree (Vocal) two years ago.

In the past, the leading actress of Miss Saigon were mostly Filipino or Vietnamese. Hui Pui-shan is the first Chinese woman to have been given the role.

Ng Wah Hei, 2005 M.Mus. graduate of the Department of Musics has won the first prize of the Chamber Music Composition Competition with his flute cello and piano trio Sleepless City in February 2006.
