Prof. Lu Yongxiang (right), Vice-Chairman, Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People's Republic of China, led a delegation to visit CUHK on 16 October. Among members of the delegation was Mr. Li Lu, Deputy Director General of the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR. Professor Lu commended on the achievement of CUHK and gave advices on the future directions.

Professor Lu has a strong academic bond with CUHK. During his presidency of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), he supported a variety of collaboration projects between CAS and CUHK, such as the Joint Laboratory for Geoinformation Science, the Shanghai-Hong Kong Joint Laboratory in Chemical Synthesis and the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, CAS.
