The Anthropology Department established a Mentorship Programme with the support of the Anthropology Alumni Society and the Anthropology Student Society. The purpose of the programme is to enhance the connection between alumni and undergraduate students, so that the latter can learn from the alumni's social and work experience, especially on how to apply anthropological knowledge in different job situations and career paths.
The programme was officially launched on 6 January 2007. Among those who attended the ceremony were more than 30 alumni and students, and Dr. Tracey Lu, chair of the Community Liaison Committee. Department chair, Prof. Maria Tam welcomed the guests, and two alumni spoke on the occasion. They were Elia Wong Ngai Lui (left), Assistant Secretary of the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau, and Ng Chi Wo (right), Assistant Curator I of the Antiquities and Monuments Office.
The Mentorship Programme has plans to organize activities, such as hiking, camping and reunions to help promote relations between mentors and mentees.
