A delegation from Shandong University visited United College in February under its Budding Scholars Exchange Programme. The students from Shandong University conducted a presentation on the topic of ‘The Problems Confronting Community Correction’ on 14 February.
Apart from presenting their research results, the delegation also visited government offices and organizations such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Social Welfare Department, High Court and the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention.
The Budding Scholar Exchange Programme was first launched in 1989. Each year, United College invites a university outside Hong Kong to be partner of this bilateral exchange programme for students of both institutions. Both sides will select not more than eight students as ‘budding scholars’ who are required to conduct research on a special topic. The findings are presented by students when visiting the partner institution. Exchange partners in the previous years include Jilin University, Nanjing University, National University of Singapore, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Sichuan University, Tsinghua University, and University of Washington.
