Two International Conferences Jointly Organized by the Faculty of Business Administration and Other Institutions


Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management

The Faculty of Business Administration, Supply Chain Management Research Center, Li & Fung Institute of Supply Chain Management, and Logistics, Management College of Xi'an Jiaotong University jointly organized the First International Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management in China and the Research Methodology Workshop on Operations and Supply Chain Management from 25 to 28 June in Xi'an, China.

Over 200 people from more than ten countries and regions attended the conference. Ph.D. students and young faculty members from ten leading business schools attended the research workshop. Prof. Zhao Xiande and Zhou Deming from Supply Chain Management Research Center delivered talks on theories and methodologies in operations and supply chain management. Three experts on operations and supply chain management were also invited to give talks in the research workshop and keynote speeches in the conference. They are Prof. Aleda V. Roth of Clemson University, Prof. Barbara B. Flynn of Indiana University, and Prof. Vicki Smith-Daniels of Arizona State University. The Center for Supply Chain Management and Logistics also invited the three distinguished scholars to be the academic advisers for the center.

Conference on Information and Management Sciences

CUHK jointly organized the Sixth International Conference on Information and Management Sciences with Tsinghua University, KAIST in Korea, Waseda University in Japan and the International Association for Information and Management Sciences (IMS).

The conference was aimed at promoting the development of information and management sciences in and their applications to business, engineering, economics, medicine, and other related disciplines. The conference was held in Lhasa, Tibet from 1 to 6 July with over 130 participants. Prof T.S. Lee, Dean of the Business Administration Faculty, was the general chair of the conference. Prof. Zhao Xiande, president of IMS, gave a keynote speech and acted as the chair of the best paper award committee for this conference. Prof. Jeff Yeung, Prof. Zhou Deming, Prof. Li Hongyi, Prof.Cao Wen, and Prof. Jiang Bo from the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics also contributed to the event through sharing their current research outputs.
